Iran Approves Raisi's Cabinet

Parliament Confirms All But One Minister

Presidential Emergency Meeting After Helicopter Crash

DUBAI, Aug 25 (Reuters) - Iran's parliament on Wednesday approved all but one of President Ebrahim Raisi's proposed Cabinet ministers, state media reported.

The vote of confidence comes a day after Raisi, a hard-line religious cleric, was sworn in as president. He has pledged to form a "strong, revolutionary and anti-corruption" government.

The parliament approved 18 of the 19 ministers proposed by Raisi, rejecting the nomination of Hossein Bagheri as minister of education. Bagheri is a former commander in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which has been sanctioned by the United States.

Meanwhile, Tehran's Cabinet has met for an emergency meeting following the crash of a helicopter carrying Iran's interior minister and several other officials, state media reported.

The helicopter crashed in the southern province of Kerman on Wednesday, killing at least 16 people, including Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
