A Look Back At Terry Crowley's Orioles Career

Early Years: A Journeyman Catcher

Terry Crowley's Orioles career can be split into several parts. There were his 12 years as a player, from 1964 to 1975. He then served as a coach for the team from 1979 to 1987, and then again from 1992 to 1995.

Crowley was a versatile player, who caught, played first base, and even pitched in a few games. He was a steady performer, and was known for his strong defense and leadership.

Breakout Season: 1969

Crowley had a breakout season in 1969, when he batted .293 with 12 home runs and 62 RBIs. He was selected to the All-Star Game that year, and finished ninth in the MVP voting.

Crowley's success in 1969 helped the Orioles win the AL East and advance to the World Series. The Orioles would eventually lose to the New York Mets in 5 games.

Later Years: A Leader On And Off The Field

Crowley continued to be a valuable player for the Orioles in the early 1970s. He was a key member of the team's 1970 World Series championship team.

In 1975, Crowley was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals. He would play two more seasons in the majors before retiring in 1977.

Crowley returned to the Orioles as a coach in 1979. He was a member of the coaching staff for the Orioles' 1983 World Series championship team.

Crowley retired from coaching in 1995. He was inducted into the Orioles Hall of Fame in 2022.
